IRA gunman Frankie McGuire hides as 'Rory Devaney' with NYPD sergeant Tom O'Meara's family while buying Stinger missiles. Once exposed, he boards a boat to sail the weapons home. Tom follows; in the shootout Tom is wounded and disarmed, and Frankie is about to finish him when he realizes he too has been shot. He dies in Tom's arms as Tom steers the boat back to shore.
