The coffee-shop guy is flattened by two cars; Death borrows his body, then gives it back alive.
Early on, the charming young man Susan meets in a coffee shop steps into the street and is fatally struck by multiple cars in one of cinema's most replayed deaths. Death then wears his body as 'Joe Black' to shadow Bill Parrish. At the end Joe walks Bill over the bridge into the afterlife, and the original young man returns, alive and unaware of where he's been, to rekindle things with Susan.
The body dies at the start and is restored at the end; Death itself obviously can't die. Pitt plays both.
