Aldo 'the Apache' Raine leads the Basterds' Nazi-scalping campaign through occupied France and gets captured by Col. Hans Landa at the Paris premiere after a bungled Italian cover. Landa cuts a deal with the Allies to let Operation Kino proceed, and Hitler, Goebbels and the Nazi high command burn and are shot to pieces inside the cinema. Driving Raine and Utivich to American lines, Landa surrenders; Raine shoots Landa's radio operator and, deciding a deal shouldn't let Landa take off his uniform, carves a swastika into his forehead with his knife.
Raine is captured and beaten but never seriously hurt. Donowitz and Ulmer die in the cinema blast; Raine and Utivich are the survivors.
