Rick has a rare skin disease that makes any light lethal, so he lives in a full leather suit and mask. After a Yugoslav healer fails and the actress he loves rejects his unmasked face, Rick decides to stop hiding: he strips off the protection and feels sunlight on his skin for the first time. The disease then takes its course, and his father accepts the choice he made.
