Dies of old age as a newborn in Daisy's arms.
Born in 1918 with the body of an old man and aging backward, Benjamin spends his last years regressing into childhood. In 1990 Daisy finds him as a pre-teen with dementia and takes him into the nursing home where he was raised; he shrinks into a toddler, then an infant, his mind fading. In spring 2003, chronologically 85 but physically a newborn, he looks up at Daisy, seems to recognize her, closes his eyes and dies in her arms. Daisy recounts all this from her own deathbed in 2005 as Hurricane Katrina approaches.
The whole film is narrated from Benjamin's diary by a dying Daisy, so his death is both shown and framed as memory.
