Mob enforcer Jackie Cogan is brought in to clean up after a protected card game is robbed, and he does: he has Markie Trattman gunned down in his car, blasts Squirrel with a shotgun at a meet, and shoots Frankie in the head without warning in a parking garage. Nobody ever gets a shot at Jackie himself. On election night 2008 he meets the mob's lawyer Driver in a bar, is offered a discounted fee, and delivers the closing monologue before demanding his full money.
Jackie is the film's only unscathed principal; Mickey (Gandolfini) is arrested and everyone else is killed.
