Retired Special Forces operator James Belmont suffers a heart attack while piloting a seaplane over Alaska and crashes, leaving him and his combat dog Odin 58 miles from the nearest road. Over a brutal week he breaks his arm in a river, nearly drowns, and is mauled defending Odin from a wolf pack, popping aspirin to keep his heart going. Near the end of the trek, wrecked by injuries and cardiac failure, he writes a letter for whoever finds Odin, gives the dog a final command to 'find the road', and dies alone in the wild. The film's opening flash-forward pays off as Odin emerges onto the road and is picked up by a young woman named Amber.
Released September 25, 2026. Early recaps agree James dies and Odin lives; sources differ slightly on whether the wolf injuries or his heart is the proximate cause.
