Lost in the Iraqi desert during the Gulf War, American soldier Cox picks his way through a minefield and comes face-to-face with Iraqi soldier Mohannan (Elias Koteas). He can't pull the trigger after seeing Mohannan look at a family photo. A poison-gas warning forces them to cooperate; the film ends with the two burying a dead Iraqi and going their separate ways.
